Fire extinguisher mandatory when renting a second home in Spain

According to a recent study on the Spanish property market, it appears that there are currently approximately 350,000 uninhabited properties in Spain. However, the number of vacant homes has fallen significantly since its peak in 2022, when there were a whopping 931,615 unoccupied homes. With the gradual recovery of the economy, the demand for housing is also increasing again. If you want to rent out your second home in Spain, from 2024 it will be mandatory according to the laws and insurance companies that you have fire extinguishers in your home. To obtain a license, the home must meet many requirements, such as: a residential permit, complaint forms, smoke detectors, gas detectors, carbon monoxide detector, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, etc. etc. The risks of non-compliance, according to the law, the highest possible fine is between €3,000 and €24,000.
